The Difference between a Booking Event and a Booking Service

Note: MOST people will only need to set up "Booking Events" and will NOT need to use "Booking Services".  See the video and written explanation below for more details:

1) A BOOKING EVENT can be thought of as an "appointment" or "Appointment type" and you will be able to set up various criteria for this one event/appointment - such as your availability, length of appointment time, when notifications go out, etc.

You will also be able to link a Booking Event to a product in your store to charge for your time if you'd like.

(Note that a "Service Type" of Product is different than a "Booking Service" and it is the Service PRODUCT that you'll set up in your Store to get paid).

If you will have different appointment types, or will want to offer different lengths of time, different availability or different pricing (anything from Free to Paid) - you will set up a BOOKING EVENT (no need for Booking "Services" in this case).

Booking Events will each have their own INDIVIDUAL calendar.

Please see this article: Booking Overview - How To Set Up A Booking Event

2) A BOOKING SERVICE on the other hand is intended to give someone an option of multiple "services" on ONE calendar - ie: if you are a hairstylist and someone books an Hour appointment with you - you can let them choose "haircut" or "color application" or "blowout" during that one hour.  You attach or "Add" Booking Services to a Booking Event to give someone these options.

Please see this article: Creating a Booking Service

IMPORTANT NOTE that if you would like to charge different amounts (or tie different products to different booked events) you would need to create separate Booking Events vs. offering different "Booking Services" within one Booking Event.
