Invalid Discount Code/Coupon Code Error - Troubleshooting Tips
If you or your customers receive an "invalid code" error when attempting to use a discount code you have set up on your site, follow the steps below to troubleshoot and solve the problem:
1) Check your Product Settings (in your Store tab)
Check to see if the product you created in your store has been set up as "on sale" with a regular price and a discount price. If it has been set as "on sale" - just know that this product is considered "discounted" (note: this applies to step 2 below - where you will need to ensure the "Allow with other Discounts" radio button is clicked on)
2) Check your Discount Code Settings (in your Store tab)
On your Discount Code settings - check 3 things:
First: Ensure that the "valid to" and "valid from" dates haven't mistakenly expired your discount code or set it outside of the date range your customers are using it.
Second: Make sure the "Allow with Other Discounts" button IS CHECKED if you intend to allow people to be able to use this discount code on products you have put "on sale" (see number 1) above)
Third: On the dropdown option for "Apply Discount for", make sure that you have selected either "All Products" - OR "Orders Over", "Member Groups", "Categories" or "Products". For any of these latter options - ensure that you have selected the products, categories, pricing ranges or member groups appropriately, based on the items you'd like the discount code to be applied to.
3) Check your Checkout Widget Settings (if using the widget)
Ensure that the correct "Products" are selected if using the "Product checkout" option - and in the Checkout Widget Settings (small cog wheel) - make sure that "Allow Discounts" is checked.
Ensuring everything is set up correctly will ensure you don't run into any error issues. :)
