What is Bandwidth Usage?
This means the amount of information that is being transferred from your website to your visitors every time they access and visit your site. The files and images on your website all are of a specific size, and your website is the sum of these. Every time a visitor visits your website via their website browser - their browser will send a request to your website's server asking for the files. These requested files will then be delivered to the visitors browser to display your pages.
So, the larger the files on your site are, the higher the bandwidth usage will be.
Ultimately, you don’t want to reduce the number of visitors to your site so the best way is to reduce the sizes of your files / images on your site.
1) Build a more simple and efficient website.
2) Remove any unnecessary text, images and files, such as audio files, font files, etc.
3) Keep your pages as small as possible. Avoid overuse of image galleries.
4) Avoid using too many elements (back ground videos, animations e.t.c.) on the page.
5) Optimizee your images and graphics. Use Jpeg format for images and GIF for your graphics. (See below important related articles on size of images, how to compress your images and SEO tips).
