Exit Funnel to Checkout - Then Back to Funnel

How to go from a Funnel to the System Store Checkout and back to a Funnel step - without using Freestanding Checkout widget

Last Update 9 дней назад

You can use the built-in System Store Checkout as part of a Funnel flow in ShinePages.
For example, you may want your customer journey to look like this:
Funnel Sales Page → System Store Checkout → Funnel Thank You Page
This is a great option when you want to use the standard Store Checkout rather than adding a freestanding Checkout Widget directly to your Funnel.
The key is setting up the flow so that your Funnel button adds the correct product to the cart and sends the visitor to checkout — and then the product itself sends the customer back to the correct Funnel page after purchase.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Choose the List for Your Store Checkout

Because you're using the System Store Checkout, you'll also want to make sure you've selected the List that customers should be added to when they purchase (Making them Subscribers and able to receive emails from you). PS. Applicable if your are using our ShinePages Emails & Automations functionality to send your emails.

TO SET THIS UP - Go to:

  • Pages & Popups → System Pages → Store Checkout
  • Click inside the Store Checkout Widget, then open the Settings / gear icon.
  • Within the Checkout settings, select the List you want customers to be added to after checkout.
For more detailed instructions: See this section: SYSTEM STORE CHECKOUT PAGE in this article: Store Checkout Page Overview (System Store Checkout)

Important: This is a setting for the System Store Checkout as a whole, so it applies to everyone who purchases through this checkout - regardless of which product they purchase. PRO TIP: To keep the list you add here as generic as possible ie. "Buyer" or "Client".

To organize or trigger automations based on a specific product purchased, use the product specific TAGS for this. Please see STEP 5 below ↓

STEP 1: Create Your Product

First, make sure the product you want to sell has already been created within your Store.
This is the product that will be added to the customer's cart when they click your purchase button within the Funnel.

STEP 2: Set Up Your Funnel

Create the Funnel you'll be using for your sales process.
For example, your Funnel may contain:
Sales Page → Thank You / Confirmation Page
In this setup, you don't need a Checkout Step inside the Funnel itself. Instead, you'll send the visitor to your built-in System Store Checkout to complete the purchase.

STEP 3: Connect Your Funnel Button to Your Product + Store Checkout

On your Funnel Sales Page, select the button you want visitors to click to purchase.
Click the Link icon to open the Select a Link window.
From the left side of the window:
1. Select STORE
2. Select the Product you want this button to sell.
3. Under Action, select "Add to Cart."
Once you select Add to Cart, you'll see an additional Then Show option.
Click the Link icon in the Then Show field.
This determines where your visitor will go immediately after the product has been added to their cart.
See continued step below:
After clicking the Link icon in the Then Show field. It will open the Select A Link Window:

Then Choose:

External Link
And enter:
/store/checkout
Then click SELECT.
Your button will now do TWO things when clicked:
Add the selected product to the visitor's cart → Send them directly to your System Store Checkout

STEP 4: Set the Product's Thank You Page to Send Buyers Back to Your Funnel

This step is what brings your customer back into your Funnel after they complete their purchase.
  • Go to your Store and open the individual Product you're selling.
  • Within that Product's settings, locate the option for the Custom Thank You Page towards the bottom of the page.
  • Toggle the red to green to enable this.
  • Set the Custom Thank You Page to the appropriate Thank You or Confirmation page within your Funnel.
  • For example: My Sales Funnel → Thank You
    As per screenshot guide below:

Now, when someone purchases that specific product, they'll complete their payment through the System Store Checkout and then be redirected to the Funnel page you've selected.

Why Set This at the Product Level?

Setting the Thank You Page at the Product level allows different products to send customers to different destinations after purchase.
    For example:
Product A → Funnel A Thank You Page
Product B → Funnel B Thank You Page
Product C → Course Welcome Page
This allows you to use the same System Store Checkout while still creating a customized post-purchase experience for each product.

STEP 5: Always Remember To Tag Every Single Product (PRODUCT TAG = NAME OF PRODUCT)

A very important step to be able to track purchases of this product.
    • Whilst within that Product's Settings, scroll down to locate the option for the Tag Customers towards the bottom of the page.
    • Click on the Edit Tags button the either Add A NEW Tag or select the tag you have already created and hit Confirm.
    • For example: Name of Product

    As per screenshot guide below:

Why Set This at the Product Level?
Setting the TAG at the Product level allows you to track / segment and most importantly trigger the automation created for this specific product after purchase .
